Hi,

I am about to embark on SCEA certification, can you tell me how long it will roughly take to complete each of the parts in terms of preparation and study time? Factor in doing a full-time job and a life outside of work with any estimates ; )

Also, is the essay exam at the end the same idea as the essay exam that I did for the Developer exam, which I recall was around five questions based on the assignment that I did.

Thanks,

Stuart

I'd also like to add what people would recommend as good study material either in book form or on the web and if there are good mock exams etc?

Thanks,

Stuart

It took me about 8 months for all three parts. (I could have done it even more earlier, its just human nature to delay things).

It took me about 2 months to study for part 1. I then took my time to do part 2/3. I'm quite sure part 2/3 can be done in about 2 months if you're just disciplined to go through everything.

For part 1, I recommend Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE : study guide (exam 310-051) / Paul Allen, Joseph Bambara.

For part 2, I recommend Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE technology : study guide / Mark Cade, Simon Roberts.
