passed PART-1 with 87%

I passed the exam with 87%.

According to me...The exam was more or less easy. Be prepared for a lot of scenarios which is different from most of the mock exams that I had used.

I lost my marks in EJB. I answered 42 correctly of 48. Do put a lot of emphasis on EJB because I noticed atleast 10-15% or more questions concentrate on EJB. I didnt notice much api specific questions..but yes I felt there was a lot of ejb in there.

There were no questions for me on SSL, digital certs and so on...I 'd love to see them more in the exams. There is too much emphasis on knowing ejb and esp. the version plays in your head while answering them. Some questions are version agnostic. But overall it would serve better if you read more EJB.

I noticed there was a survey before the test which asked you questions on your experience with EJB, Applicatino integration, security and so on.. Not sure if that had anything to do with the toughness of the exam. What are the thoughts of the rest.

For the exam EJB is v. imp (irrespective of whether you use practically or not... the fact being that today Spring, Struts, Hibernate seems to be the order of the day). But for a good score EJB is imp.

The Notes available in the java links forum is good enough. Best of luck. As I said if you have studied the notes available and marc cade its good enough.

Other books ... well for EJB I suggest you should read an extra book like Richard Monson Haefel EJB. There is a lot of focus on EJB

- is out-dated:
- - The for part II most important book of Deepak Alur et al. "Core J2EE Patterns", Sun Press, is missing
- - Dan Pilone "UML 2.0 in a Nutshell", O'Reilly, is missing
