Hi all
Web applications are accessed through browser hence the authentication and communication need to be done over SSL for security purpose.
But for rich client application , generally its within an intranet ( or I am wrong here ?). Can the communication between rich client and application server be over SSL?

I cannot think of any reason that you could not secure the communication between a rich client and application server. It would make sense to me as well - if you're talking about a geographically distributed system that's not all located within one intranet, it would almost seem common sense to ensure that sensitive information does not become compromised.
