Did you have some J2EE experiences as a developer or architect ?
I've no Java real world experience, I'm going to take SCBCD tomorrow morning and I'm thinking about SCEA as the next step..

If you have no field experience with J2EE applications design, then I recomend you to start right now!
A good book for who is starting is "The J2EE Architect's Handbook " by Derek Ashmore. It is a book written to teach you how to design an architecture for a J2EE application.
There are many assignments in the Internet (Javaranch has some). Download StarUML and begin producing an architecture. Install a J2EE application server (like JBoss) and create a compete J2EE application.
Then use a web stress tool to simulate heavy load on your application. Whatch the behavior of your EJBs.
The SCEA part II will be much easier if you have some practice. Even though with a simulated exercise like this one.
