Hi,

In one of the Whizlabs SCEA mock exams, there were questions related to EJB 2.0 specs as well as J2EE design patterns. The Whizlab guys have added note below each EJB 2.0 question "Note: This question is for the EJB 2.0 version of SCEA".

Can anyone please clarify
1) What version of EJB specs to use for SCEA part 1? (I couldn't find any documentation of this on sun web site. I am using EJB 1.1)
2) Are J2EE design patterns part of SCEA part 1 objectives? (The "Design Patterns" objectives on sun website state that "From a list, select the most appropriate design pattern for a given scenario. Patterns will be limited to those documented in Gamma et al. and named using the names given in that book. ". Still wanted to make sure of this since the J2EE design pattern questions appear in the Whizlab mocks.

Please help as soon as possible since I am planned to take part 1 in a week's time.

Thanks for your time!

-Darshan.

And I forgot: yes, design patterns are still between exam objectives. This book: Addison Wesley - Gamma, Helm, Johnson, Vlissides - Design Patterns, Elements Of Reusable Object Oriented Software is recommended by Sun, another book that can help you with design patterns is "Head First Design patterns", contains a lot of examples and it's written in a more readable format.

Rayssa , thanks a lot for the information!

The thread that you referred is dated back to Dec 2005 and it has a comment "you can expect SCEA based on java EE 5.0 after an year or so. I heard from Bert that it's not going to be updated for quite a long time ".

I am not sure why Whizlab included EJB 2.0 and core J2EE design patterns in the mocks, but looking at the above mentioned timeline, I just want to make sure that its still EJB 1.1 for part 1 in Dec 2006.

Though the technology versions shouldn't matter much when you are expected to apply the concepts more (as in this exam), but still it will be really helpful if Sun mentions the J(2)EE or EJB version for part 1...

Can anyone who has appeared for part 1 recently please confirm about the EJB version and core j2ee patterns?

Thanks for your time!

Regards,
Darshan.
