This week's book giveaway is in the OCMJEA forum. We're giving away four copies of OCM Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect Exam Guide and have Paul Allen & Joseph Bambara on-line! See this thread for details.
I would like to get an advice of you. I just get my SCWCD certification last month and I'm planning on go ahead for the SCEA certification. I don't have experience with EJB, I just used UML for my university works, and I have a middle experience with Design Patterns (I'm finishing my computer science course this year). But I want to take this another certification to work as a designer (I have three years of experience with Java). I believe that taking this certification is a good way to get a promotion!
What do you think?! Could I start studying for this certification?
My opinion is, you should decide on your ultimate goal you want to achieve. If your goal is to become an architect then you can pursue this certification otherwise this might not be useful for you. It is not about getting promotion, because in short term you might get it if you complete SCEA. But in long term it might not be helpful.
So decide on what you want to do ultimately. Your ultimate goal.
