Does anyone have an idea what are the best learning resources for SCEA 5 beta? The old guide by Paul Allen seems to be outdated a little bit... I guess the Core J2EE patterns by Deepak Alur, John Crupi, Dan Malks is still of value as well as classical books on design patterns. In my opinion questions on EJB3, JSF, SOA will not be difficult but still... Any hints on what other books or articles could be useful for this exam?

Evelyn has a list of the resources that we used to put together the exam. I think she's planning to release the list at some point.

The Core J2EE Patterns book is still recommended also for the new SCEA. Else I would stick with the Java EE 5 Tutorial.

So what, SCEA is not intended for greenhorns but more for the experienced ones . Don't underestimate the tutorial. It has all the wisdom in it one need for getting through Java EE 5. And since the new Sun Microsystems SCEA is based on Sun Microsystems Java EE 5 you should take this document serious. Regards, Darya
