All the book are Java related. Will there be books about .NET or C# or other in the book promo list? Since most randers are open minded i think this wouldn't cuz problems.

And exactly what forum would we promote those in??
We don't have a "Literature from the Dark Side" forum .
However we have started doing some reviews about such stuff.

I wonder how the author of "Usng C#" would feel about his book being promoted in "Meaningless Drivel".

I wonder how the moderator would feel having an increase of traffic with people just trying to get a book. It is such a quiet corner of java ranch I think we would much rather talk about what religion is better or worse than others. Who is trying to take over the world. Whether to use short forms or not. The joke of the day. Let's not clutter up MD with meaningless talk about programming or anything else like that.

Blatant Advertising forum is another suitable candidate , if .NET is the subject of books.

I suppose that someday we might promote a book involving these technologies, but we are, afterall JAVAranch. So as long as there are heaps of books on Java coming out each month, it seems difficult to look into non-Java books.

By way of a different discussion, we had rolled around the idea some time ago of a more object-oriented site, not just Java. So it's not an idea completely out of left field to think we could cover C# or .NET by way of book reviews.
That said, I don't think anyone currently moderating or sherrifing (or owning) the site expressed great interest in it. I think we're in it for Java, and there's certainly a bit of antipathy surrounding M$ stuff; they have enough advocates, don't they?
It's great that people want to expand their ability to participate at JavaRanch, but what we're looking for (if I may presume to speak for others) is Java awareness, Java training, Java excitement, Java mysteries wrapped in Java riddles surrounded by Java enigmas. It's not like there isn't very much to talk about, eh?

Advocates, yes. What is needed is neutral third parties. However, I guarantee that MS would be very annoying to anyone running C#Ranch.
