Hi All,

I am planning on doing SCEA soon. I already have SCJP & 2+ years of industry experience in Java. I also have substantial knowledge on UML & design patterns.

So, my question would be, do I have the necessary background to attempt SCEA?

When I say 2+ years of experience Java, it includes experience in J2EE technologies like EJB, Servlets/JSP, etc. & open source stuff like Struts, Hibernate, Webwork, Ant, JBoss, etc.

Your views & suggestions are greatly appreciated

Hi Janith,

Sounds like you already have the right foundation to start preparing for the exam. Apart from the things you mentioned, you will also need some knowledge on Security (firewalls, applets), UML, Design Patterns (GoF), etc.

But it might be worth waiting till SCEA 5 Final is out.

Wherein you will also be tested in EJB 3, JPA, JSF, Core J2EE Patterns, etc.

Good luck!

SCJP 1.2 (89%), SCWCD 1.3 (94%), IBM 486 (90%), SCJA Beta (96%), SCEA (91% / 77%), SCEA 5 P1 (77%), SCBCD 5 (85%)
I agree. Here's the link:
