Yes, this book is a must have SCEA 5. Useful for both Part I and II.

I also believe the book is a must have, although Sun does make most of that material available free online, so if you're pinching pennies, you can get most of it for free.

I think it's a must for Part I. But not really that important for Part II especially if you're thinking of submitting a JEE 5 solution.

Like what Cameron said, some patterns there can be considered obsolete in JEE 5.
