i have access to the two books below, can anyone comment on these two book with regard to SCMAD exam? 1. Programming Wireless Devices with the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition By Roger Riggs, Antero Taivalsaari, Mark VandenBrink Publisher : Addison Wesley Pub Date : June 01, 2001 ISBN : 0-201-74627-1 2. Core J2ME Technology & MIDP By John W. Muchow Publisher : Prentice Hall PTR Pub Date : December 21, 2001 ISBN : 0-13-066911-3 Thanks a lot
Actually, I like the John Muchow book A LOT, and as a matter of fact, he was one of the developers of the exam. However, the book is very outdated, so it does not cover some of the newer specs. But... it is a good book for learning J2ME if you are brand new. I recommended the Jonathon Knudsen book instead of John's book, only because Jonathon Knudsen's book is on the new specs. However, if you have access to John Muchow's book, I have found it easier to learn from if you are new to this. He has really nice ways of explaining things. Right now, his publisher has no plans to update the book, But John may become involved in the SCMAD study guide. I am not familiar with the other book, so I don't know. cheers, Kathy
The first book on your list has a second edition now which covers MIDP v2. But it gets so many authors (8 or something?) each writing one chapter. I find the chapter-to-chapter quality is not very conssistent.
The answer is "yes". This is one of few books in the market that cover MIDp v2. Its authors are on the MIDP spec team -- they know their stuff. I do not think it is as easy to follow as Jonathan's book. But if you can get your hands on this one, yes, it will help your get your (SC) MAD cert!
I have these books: 1.Java 2 Micro Edition (Manning) 2.J2ME in a Nutshell (Oreilly) 3.Learning Wireless Java (Oreilly) 4.Micro Java Game Development (AWL) Which one is suitable for the bata exam? I have to pay 2.5 times the price of this book just because we have ONE local copy of it. It would take too long to order it from the US. Bugger!

Hi, Does anyone have idea about when 'SCMAD study guide' by SUN will be available? For example SUN's SCEA study guide by Cade, a specialized book like that is good help for preparation for SCMAD. Thanks,
