Actually, I like the John Muchow book A LOT, and as a matter of fact, he was one of the developers of the exam. However, the book is very outdated, so it does not cover some of the newer specs. But... it is a good book for learning J2ME if you are brand new. I recommended the Jonathon Knudsen book instead of John's book, only because Jonathon Knudsen's book is on the new specs. However, if you have access to John Muchow's book, I have found it easier to learn from if you are new to this. He has really nice ways of explaining things. Right now, his publisher has no plans to update the book, But John may become involved in the SCMAD study guide. I am not familiar with the other book, so I don't know. cheers, Kathy

The first book on your list has a second edition now which covers MIDP v2. But it gets so many authors (8 or something?) each writing one chapter. I find the chapter-to-chapter quality is not very conssistent.
Mr. Yuan, Thank you very much for your reply! I have looked at the book which you pointed out: http://www.aw-bc.com/catalog/academic/product/0,4096,0321197984-PRE,00.html and would like to ask your final opinion on whether or not it would be helpful to me for SCMAD Beta preparation! Please advise! Thank you once again! Seid

The answer is "yes". This is one of few books in the market that cover MIDp v2. Its authors are on the MIDP spec team -- they know their stuff. I do not think it is as easy to follow as Jonathan's book. But if you can get your hands on this one, yes, it will help your get your (SC) MAD cert!

I have to pay 2.5 times the price of this book just because we have ONE local copy of it. It would take too long to order it from the US. Bugger!
Wireless Java: Developing with J2ME: Developing with J2ME Author: Jonathan Knudsen Publisher: Apress ISBN: 1590590775 Publishing Date: 2003 Pages: 384 Format: Trade paperback Delivery Time: Usually within 15 working days
Does anyone know Developing Wireless Applications Using Java by Skillsoft Press? I have access to this book online and I was thinking about using it to study for the exam.
Hi, Does anyone have idea about when 'SCMAD study guide' by SUN will be available? For example SUN's SCEA study guide by Cade, a specialized book like that is good help for preparation for SCMAD. Thanks,
