I took the exam a couple of days ago. It was reasonably difficult but certainly not impossible with the right amount of studying. I had a lot of questions on SMS and WMA. Almost to the point I thought it was getting ridiculous as I don't see this API as a core technology. I don't think anyone should be upset because the exam got extended. I look at it as a learning experience. Just try your best. You can always retake it if you really think it's going to boost your salary by 50%. The thing that bugs me most about this exam is that it doesn't cover any CDC or Personal Profile. I think Sun is missing the boat by putting all it's eggs in the MIDP basket. IMO, the exam needs to be redesigned to cover CDC and all the other profiles (I would skip the optional APIs). Otherwise, they should call it "Sun Certified MIDP Application Developer". Drew

CDC has entire j2se JVM implemented i guess. Its not KVM. and the profiles on top of CDC are meant for non-UI electronic devices such as SetTop boxes, Car navigation systems and stuff. MIDP is for smart phones and 2 way pagers. Even PDAs have different profile PDAprofile, which i guess industry has no supported implementation. So, i think SCMAD justifies its name.

Shouldn't they call it "Sun Certified MIDP, CLDC, WMA and MMAPI Application Developer", because they are not overlapping each other? I think the name SCMAD itself is cool enough for me...

Isn't it the long title should be: Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer for the J2ME Platform 1.4 ? or maybe: Sun Certified Developer for the J2ME Platform 1.4
I have a name for it. Sun certified JTWI developer short: SCJTWID this exam is based on JTWI road map 1
