This week's giveaways are in the MongoDB and Jobs Discussion forums. We're giving away four copies of Mongo DB Applied Patterns and 4 resume reviews from Five Year Itch and have the authors/reps on-line! See this thread and this one for details.
1. Wireless Java: Developing with J2ME, Second Edition by Jonathan Knudsen (most upadte J2ME book, the one I am using) 2. Wireless Java Developing with j2me 2ndE (Good) 3. J2ME: Complete Reference (good) - the one you are using 4. "Core J2ME", John Muchow (very good)
Those are the best. By the way, what books, material and forum did you use to pass your MCSD.net?

Yes, I know. I just make fun on "Microsoft" when I get bored reading the spec and try to entertain myself. Hope you don't mind [ September 17, 2004: Message edited by: Alibabra Sanjie ]

I am afraid such book will not be come out soon.
As you can expect, SCMAD is not the majority of SUN's certification.

So what is the majority of Sun's Certs? SCJP? Or SCWCD? Or SCEA ?
but without SCJP, there is no SCWCD or SCBCD...

SCJP, SCWCD and SCBCD

Agree. That's why there are more people who got SCJP than SCWCD and SCBCD.
I guess only a few people got SCMAD and SCDJWS, because they are not that popular now.
Anyway, as my goal is to have all Java certs from SUN, I dont mind whether they are popoular or not.

Man would we ever love to write a SCMAD book! You guys go out and get a bunch signatures from people who promise to buy it, and we'll get started

Hey, Bert Bates, you disappeared for a long time, where you've been? Are you still moderating this forum? We need the expert help in this forum. There are many posts remain not answered. Hey guys, I'm around making sure that you're all nice to each other With you guys it's no problem!
I can say that at this point once you have the basics down (like with the Muchow book), the single best study sources are the specs that have been mentioned many times in this forum.
In terms of answering questions, I really only want to do that if you guys get to an impasse on a certain point. It's way better for you to try to answer each other's questions - believe me it's a learning experience to post an answer
When we work on the exam there are nine of us and we each take certain sections, so there are some areas where I can answer your questions without any research, and some areas where I would have to go look at the spec and maybe write a little code to get an answer.
Since I'm not studying for the SCMAD certification, it's WAY better for you guys to try to answer each other's questions - because the questions I've seen tend to be pretty good, and answering them will help your studies.

Bert, that is what we have been doing, since Alibabra and I got to know that both of us are preparing for SCMAD in a hurry... but it's good that sometimes we can see Sathya(Co-Author of Whizlabs SCMAD Exam Simulator) answering our questions...
Hope you will hear the success stories from us soon, Bert...

Bert,

One more vote on HF SCEA, which includes all 3 parts of exam info in details.
I'm afraid Tiger is first
Does this mean the beta exam of Tiger will come out faster than that of SCEA?
BTW, will u consider to extends the HF Design Pattern to HF SCEA?

Interesting... you guys assumed that when I said HF Tiger I meant it would be a cert. book. You know HF Patterns will be out very soon, and it's NOT a cert. book. So that means only half the HF books are cert. books
We really don't want HF to be considered a "certification series", and of the 6 or so HF books that are underway, NONE of them are cert. books!
We wrote both the EJB book and the Servlets book because we thought they would be helpful even if the reader wasn't interested in certification. So I guess the message is, we think certification is a good thing, but we certainly don't think it's the ONLY thing!

Exactly, I read Head First EJB for the learning another way, instead of getting the SCBCD cert, which I already have. I read HF EJB after I had the certification.
"Head First Design Patterns" is a good topic book, I am looking forward for it to come out. What are the titles of those up coming HF's books?

The books we're working on now (with co-authors!), include HF moviemaking w/ Final Cut, and HF Flash. Our co-author on the Flash book is the fabulous JavaRanch bartender Pauline M. !
The other books we're working on will be a secret for a little bit longer, but JavaRanchers will be the first to know when they're announced.

I will definitely buy the HF Flash book, when it comes out... But as for HF Movie Making, Kathy told me and Nick that the book contains about Audio much more than other Movie making books, so I am pretty interested in that also... It would be great for my home studio and my hobby, when I am tired of Java codes...

I think Mr.Herbert is writing a lot of books based on Tiger... AFAIK, the Tiger New Features book and The Complete Reference books will definitely boom in the Java community... So if the book you are going write is not specific for SCJP Tiger exam objectives, people would be satisfied with the famous Mr.Herbert's Tiger books...
So I vote for HF J2EE Architecture(may be not HF SCEA)...

Here in the list! U guys will see that HF Java, 2nd Edition will be in promotion in March. So it definitely means that HF Java will come before HF Moviemaking or HF Flash or HF J2EE Architecture..

Hey Ko Ko,
Well maybe the promotion list happens to line up with book release schedules, but maybe the two aren't aligned
Seriously, as soon as books get close we let everyone at the ranch know. At this point I would recommend that you not rely too much on the JavaRanch promotion schedule... a lot of that schedule is based on first come first served, and sometimes a book might be finished before there is an availability in the schedule.

p.s. Glad to hear that you're interested in the audio stuff.
