I am going to take SCMAD, but this section of the forum doesn't have books resource like others, so i wonder what book is best for SCMAD, is there any book particularly for this certificate?

Hi HaoZhe XU

I think Head First J2ME was supposed to be on its way. But don't know the exact release date.

Could someone let us know whats the current status on HeadFirst J2ME

Vishak, where did you get this info? I don't think HF authors are working on J2ME issue...

HaoZhe XU, there is no book specfic for the SCMAD exam currently... If you wanna start to study for the exam, the specs are the best resources to learn... Not a single book covers all the objectives for the exam... So you may go ahead with specs as well as some good books like Jonathan's Wireless Java, John's Core J2ME to help you in understanding some complicated topics in the specs...

Hope it helps...

If I have OReilly's Learning Wireless Java, and Java in a Nutshell, which should I read first?

What a heck! You wanna use Java in a Nutshell for SCMAD exam? If you have gone thru SCJP exam, you might not need to read Java in a Nutshell back again to do things on SCMAD exam...

Learning Wireless Java from O'reilly is good... I have read some of the author's articles from OnJava.com... So you might want to read that book as a reference for the specs... Anyway, the primary reading should be specs...

Hope it helps...

Hey Guys -

Wow - someone dug that thread up from a LONG, LONG time ago... Unfortunately, several times since then I have said that HF J2ME is probably very low on our list We would really like to write it, but J2ME just isn't very popular yet

We are always watching to see what will happen with the J2ME world, and as soon as we think it's popular enough we will start on that book...

Until then I can say that when we created the exam we were mostly referencing the Sun specs... they are probably the best reference, and they're really pretty readable and useful compared to some of the other Sun specs.

Sorry, I mean: "J2ME in a nutshell", not "Java in a Nutshell"

Yeah, this is what I want to say Vishal... Like you said Bert, J2ME isn't very popular yet... Even this SCMAD forum is extremely quiet and I can even call the participating ranchers by name(for example, Alibabra, AhmadS, Beatrice, Wilder) in this forum, while in other forums, the traffice is so jammed and it's not that possible to recognize who is who...

Well, let's wait and see what will happen the future of J2ME as well as the corresponding SCMAD...

I guess that book is more than enough for the Objective Section 9: MIDP Game API... But for the SCMAD exam as a whole, it won't be enough for sure...

You might want to pick some more books to assist to understand other topics rather than Game... As I mentioned it before, the specs are the best resources up to now to study for the exam...

Hope it helps...
