quesiton in SCMAD emulator! why 8 bits support 4096 colors?

The question is how many colors are supported by a JTWI1.0 devices?
the answer is: 4096

The explanation is: JTWI1.0 devices must support the color depeth of at least 4096 colors (8 bits)

I don't know why? 4096=2^12
why 8 bits means 4096???

You are right that 4096=2^12.

But you are wrong that JTWI 1.0 devices must support 4096(8 bits). In the JTWI 1.0 speification, Page #10, Table #1, it says that Color depth as returned by Display.numColors() is 4096(12 bits). I am not sure from where you got the 4096(8 bits) information.

Which emulator did you use? Is there any setting options in the emulator that can change the color without affecting the version (MIDP 1)?

This is the 4th quesion in the part "Interactive Quize" -JTWI

If the explanation is wrong, I hope the author can modify it, since it's really a simply question. And we already pay the money for that product.

From some website i notice some people say there are some mistakes in the answers and explanations. I hope some people can point out clearly for checks.
sometimes I feel there are questions answers and explanations are confusing. But I don't know it's my understanding problem or the product problem. :-(
