Can anyone point the important points to remember for this objective: Given a list of responsibilities, identify which belong to the deployer, bean provider, app assembler, container provider, sys admin, or any combination Actually the specs are so lengthy and theres so much to remember for the roles and responsibilities!!! thanx

OK, I have a large PDF "cheat sheet" for that topic/objective. It is a few pieces out of a chapter from the upcoming book, in VERY rough form. This was originally just for our reviewer group, but for you folks taking the beta, go ahead and grab it if you like. You can get it from our anonymous ftp site at: ftp.wickedlysmart.com name: anonymous password: your name cd pub binary get EJBBetaPreview.pdf
-- warning: it is BIG (3 MB) so you better have a high-speed connection : ) cheers, Kathy

You can also read about this and get a good overview in chapter 3 of the EJB2.0 spec from the Sun site. Kathy provided a link in another message, but I think this may be it also: Link to EJB Spec downloads I don't know what your experience has been, but my team is very small so these roles are a luxury we don't have. Each of us is responsible for all of the tasks.

Actually that link is for the 2.1 spec, and I believe the beta is for the 2.0 spec. If you dig around the site, you should be able to find the correct pdf.

Kathy, very intersting look to the preview pages! It's not like any other O'Reilly book I've seen. Looking forward to it.

Congrats, Kathy! This *IS* gonna be a bestseller. While listing the pages I couldn't believe it's a certification preparation book, and for a complex subject. Is the overall style gonna be preserved? It just differs from everything I saw before from O'Reilly. BTW, is there your picture somewhere among the roles presented? ) Perhaps, anybody else's from the SCBCD exam team? Way to go
Hi Kathy This is really a great book! Lots of essential concepts explained in a clear and funky way. Took me ages to understand wordy books as compared to yours with lots of pics to explain the concepts. Can we have more sneak peeks of the book? It will really help us both for the cert and our understanding for EJB concepts. Thanks for coming out with such a great book!

The book (cowgirl is writing) is a great reference for any EJB user, no matter if taking the test or not. It's a lot of information on an important subject, carefully explained in a smart and easy-going manner. So, you can actually study AND have fun AT THE SAME TIME! And that's a very unique book to find. Regardz to all, Gus

I did ftp://ftp.wickedlysmart.com/pub/binary on the browser, and it took me to the correct directory. The printing part was very very slow. It took me 20 minutes to download/print 17 pages. My experience about these chapters: I took the printout and went to my son's baseball game. Generally, when I take something to read with me (like any book on EJB), the game appears more interesting and I can't concentrate on my reading. However, last evening it was different. Kathy's material was so so interesting that I could finish reading all of it, in a breeze. One kid came to me and asked what comic am I reading. I was on the page with a lot of comic-style conversation between the provider, assembler and deployer going on. Kathy - I'm earnestly looking forward to reading your book. I already got some typos, so let me know if you want a thorough review. Regards, Sudd

Hi all Anyone having difficulties downloading the pdf's Try web2ftp.com it is a free service that mirrors the ftp content to http and even zip the file before downloading it. So after logging navigate and choose the file then press Herunterladen (German) and check the "Zip it" check box. Alexan [ June 05, 2003: Message edited by: Alexan Kahkejian ]

Tanuja, I just tried to send you an email but it bounced back since the file is over 3MB. Please download it from my personal web site: EJBBetaPreview.zip
Looks like your mail box does not have sufficient space.

Vadiraj, if you click on the link I gave above it should work. The file is downloaded through http and not ftp.
Kathy, when I tried to download the EJBBetaPreview.pdf, I received a permission denied error. Error opening local file EJBBetaPreview.pdf. > EJBBetaPreview.pdf ermission denied The other files in the directory download without a problem.
