As I recall certain colleges do publish results lists in some newspapers. There would nothing wrong in Sun making available a list of those who have passed exams, though it would highly contentious on whether marks should be shown and whether those who have failed were shown. The information is hardly that private, as it will be on most peoples CV for all and sundry to see. But what incentive is there for Sun and other bodies, it would require an administrive overhead above that at the moment. Who would be allowed access and what would they be charged. At the moment, employers can ask to see your certificate if they need proof. Demand for having results public accessible would possibly be a mark that certification has achieved professional standing. But a few exams, while useful benchmarks, are a long way from such a status.

"barry b", just a friendly word of advice: that kind of attitude is not what we hope for when we ask people to follow the few simple rules that we have around here. Bartenders are around to keep things orderly and friendly. Once in while we'll get a rowdy customer though. That's why we have sheriffs around, if you get my drift.

It may seem silly, but we've observed that this naming policy seems to result in more professional-seeming behavior from most of the people at this site. And regardless of your inpertretation, "b" just does not look like a real name. Is it difficult to make up something more convincing? We could provide more detailed rules about what we consider "real" and what's not, but we've found that the more rules we write, the less people actually read. So most people seem to be happy using common sense to decide what's a "real name" and what isn't. I'm sorry if you don't like the policy, but ignoring polite requests to comply will not change the policy. Instead it may well result is having your account closed. I hope that you don't choose this option.

I think it makes sense to insist on using your real name. Encouraging a professional use of this website benefits everyone, and using your real name is definitely more professional.
Personally (to get back to the point of this thread), I don't think Sun should post the names of the certified persons, and I would request they not include my name on lists if they were to decide to do so. Granted, I used to have a very different opinion of this back when I started getting my certs. It just turned into a headache, with emails soliciting me to apply for positions and with my employer making it difficult to un-associate my record from them when I left their employ... it's just not worth the hassle. Sides, if my employer (or a potential employer) wanted confirmation of my record, I'm more than happy to provide them with my certificates as proof and they can decide to take those or leave'em.
