Is it worth time and money spent for someone with SCEA to go for SCBCD, when part-1 of SCEA covers ejb topics? Saliya -------- SCJP,SCWCD,SCEA, IBM -484,486

Hi Saliya I think it depends on what you expect to get out of it, and what job you are doing or trying to get. I think SCBCD is designed for people who are actually coding EJBs. Whereas SCEA is designed for architects, not coders. So if you think you will be doing a lot of coding with EJBs then this exam will help you learn more about the low level EJB details. Or if you expect to use EJBs extensively in the systems you are describing in your achitecture job, then it may help you to know a little bit more about the technology. Regards, Andrew
I am currently doing the SCEA part2 assignment but i am kinda stuck...... anyway I am trying to finish it as soon as possible so I can take the part3 essay exam, after that I will study for SCBCD because the result for SCEA will be a long wait and hopefully be able to sit and pass SCBCD exam around the time my SCEA result comes out but I need to be able to complete part2 with the right solution first....... and my deadline is next week ...

As per me I see as same effort in both the exams for EJB. I would appreciate if sun takes away the EJB from SCEA ( as its already covered in SCBCD ) Steve

I think my reasons for pursuing the SCBCD are similar to those I had for learning Unix internals back in the Dark Ages. Not strictly necessary for the job, but the real experts in anything pursue the deep knowledge. Internals knowledge used to help me really knock tech interviewers for a loop, when I gave a short explanation of the file system down to the i-node level and then told them why....

same here ... I give exams to get the to the hidden corners which I couldnt cover in my projects. And feels good to know the things coming in place. When I finally see over all picture then I see RPC/RMI and distributed computing meeting on the same fundamentals what ever be the language. Steve

Hi Guys, Thanks for your comments. I am still not convinced to go for SCBCD. Right now I am preparing for the last part of IBM Enterprise Solution Developer cert. I feel I had enough of Sun certs and now it is about time to go for other product certs specilising in their products. Regards, Saliya
