Hi Kathy and Bates,
Whether instance swapping is specified as per the specs in case of Entity beans or is this behaviour vendor specific. I know it for sure in case of stateless session bean the container when it maintains a pool of instances it does swapping depending upon the availaibility of instances. Does it also does the same in case of Entity Beans.

The pooling is vendor specific. Some vendors allow yoy to configure the algorithm to be used.
There will be no such questions in exam.

Hi Pradeep,
I am not talking about whether it would be asked in the exam or not but of the doubt in general

hi,
Instance swapping in not given in specs, it is vendor specific. But mostly the vendor will be doing the instance swapping in the connection pool i.e for both Stateless beans as well as Entity Beans.

Hi Rishi
As per Spec Page 170
"The container is not required to maintain a pool of instances in the pooled state. The pooling
approach is an example of a possible implementation, but it is not the required implementation"
But most vendor have pool of instances for each entity bean
