What is the meaning of "SCALABLITY" ?

It is said stateless session beans are more scalable than stateful session beans. Please anyone tell me what is realy ment by scalablity? Is it the maintanablity of the software or something different from that? Thank you very much.

Scalability - The ability to expand the number of users or increase the capabilities of a computing solution users without making major changes to the systems or application software.

it is one of those you need to BS about if you want to move up the chain(to be a PM or Architect) at the end of it you will be doing well known clustering techniques or incresing hardware available.
