stateless session bean's tie to its body guard

In HFE on page 227, in reference to stateless session bean, the container says that "I will NOT tie a bean to the client's EJB object until the client gets serious and calls a business method". But one the page 228, the book also says that a stateless session bean can get a reference to its EJB object (through SessionContext") inside "ejbCreate" and "ejbRemove" method. I cannot understand how a stateless session bean can get a reference to its body guard, i.e. EJBObject, before it's tied to one yet.
