Hi everyone. I would like to practice creating EJB components. I understand that the only thing I need is J2EE including the deploytool. Can I do the linking to a database using the deploytool? What else do I need if not?

Thank you for your help

Yes you can. Almost every commercial appserver provides GUI deploytool which can be used to deploy EJB's to their purticular servers.

Eg. you can deploy CMP beans ang link to Pointbase server using sun RI.
(I know you can, but dont know hot to do it, i get some errors)

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
