Hi. I'm new to EJB technology, but my plans are first being familiar to EJBs and then (but ASAP) go to the SCBCD exam. Can I get both steps reading "SCBCD Exam Study Kit" book, or perhaps is it better to start with another book only devoted on EJB learning, like Ed Romans's "Mastering EJB"? Thanks in advance, Marcio

If you are a beginner, Mastering EJB might be too tough for you to read, as it covers detail EJB knowledge. If you want to have a good start, start with HF EJB. When I took SCBCD, the only reference is HF EJB and still I can pass it with an acceptable score. I believe SCBCD Exam Study Kit will be a good book because the author himself is a teacher and thus, the writing style might make readers easy to learn. Nick

Marcio: Although the primary goal of the SCBCD Exam Study Kit is to help you pass the exam, it does not assume any prior experience with EJB. So, the topics are covered in a very cohesive way: a section builds on previous sections, and a chapter on previous chapters in a logical flow. There is no hopping from topic to topic. The concepts are defined and explained as the reader encounters them. So, my attempt has been to present a self contained body of knowledge presented with a logical flow, and not just an exam cram. One of the goals during writing this book was that a beginner will learn about EJB as he/she prepares for the exam. Hope it helps. Cheers. Paul The book website: http://www.manning.com/sanghera
