Hi,

I am preparing for SCBCD exam. I have got good idea of EJB as i have read few chapters of Mastering EJB.

I just wanted to ask that for full fledged preparation of SCBCD, which book is best Mastering or Head first EJB? or anything else?

Thanx,

Mastering EJB is too "dry" for me when I first learnt EJB. I then turned to read HF EJB, which makes me very easy to understand EJB technology. By completing SCBCD, I found that I can understand more from Mastering EJB. Thus, if you just start learn EJB, I would recommend HF EJB.

Now, Paul has written a new book SCBCD Exam Study Kit. I had read the sample chapters and I found that it is quite easy to understand and learn EJB. You might also consider that.

Hi!

In my opinion the Mastering EJB is good book for full fledge knowledge of EJB. HF EJB is more focused on SCBCD 1.3 exam, so mostly it covers the topics related to exam objectives.

That's true, Mastering EJB or another book I read: Enterprise JavaBean focus more in EJB technology that SCBCD required.

HF EJB is more focused on SCBCD 1.3 exam, so mostly it covers the topics related to exam objectives.

However, he is now preparing for SCBCD. Thus, a certificate-oritented book might be more suitable.

I prefer to read HF EJB, however, Mastering EJB helps me to clear some topics.

If you are going to learn EJB, free resources are always cool!

However, if you wanna a book which focus on a particular exam, it is better to have a book that is exam objective-oriented. Otherwise, you might go too deep in some areas.

Nick,

after passed SCBCD with say.. 90+%, do you think read a book like Mastering EJB would still worth and gain anything to learn?

Yes. You will find that you can understand the book more than before.

When I first read Enterprise JavaBean 3rd edition, I found it is difficult to understand and it is too dry. But after I studied HF EJB and passed SCBCD with 95%, when I read the book again, I found myself understand the topic more than before.
