why rmi technology is used in ejb

why rmi technology is used in ejb , can anybody tell me the
cases , when this is possible without rmi technology

Well, RMI is the Java technology for client/servlet applications. Why wouldn't it be used for EJBs?

I think in order attain location transparency EJB architecture uses RMI technology.To make it simple if any RMI application's lifecyle is controlled by a container, it can be simply named as EJB application.

I'm back to this forum now... I wanted to concentrate on my job.. so I was out of touch since 6 months... now Iv decided to target SCBCD... when I browse this forum, I get back my confidence...


RMI is obviously used coz EJB is based on Distributed Architecture...

In earlier version, even if the client and EJB were deployed on the same server, RMI was used which affected performance.
With EJB 2.1, Sun introduced concept of Local Remote and Local Home interfaces. When you configure EJB application using these, then RMI is not used.

For location transparency, JNDI is used.. not RMI...
