Hi All,

I've just completed SCWCD today and planning to take SCBCD..I read HFSJ for that. That's a Great book that anyone can read, laugh and think.

Can anyone help me for these:

(1)What book should I refer for SCBCD 1.4(I guess that is the latest version,Right?).
(2)which version of EJB is covered in that???
2.0 or 2.1 or 3.0???

Thanks in advance.

hello,

SCBCD 1.3 is the latest version, and it covers EJB 2.0. Note that in EJB 3.0 there are major changes. The EJB 3.0 specification is currently in the state of a proposed final version. Some aspects of previous versions will not be used any more in a typical EJB 3.0 based project. I estimate that EJB 2.x skills will be important until the end of 2007 or 2008.

Maybe you should go for something else, like SCDJWS? Web Services are totally coming up, and only a few people master them - unlike EJB. I personally give SCJD certified professionals a lot of credit, because they demonstrated that they can develop and implement a medium sized typical client-server application, rather than just knowing some specifications and APIs. If you know basics about EJB already and have quite some architectural skills, you can make a pretty good impression by becoming a SCEA, but that takes a lot of time.

Regarding study material for SCBCD 1.3, I recommend the corresponding parts of "Mastering EJB" (download or buy), the study guide by Mikalai Zaikin and the specification and API, along with some mock questions, ordered by sections, of your choice. Many people recommend the Head First EJB book.

Thanks a lot for your great explanation.

BTW,I have real passion towards design and architecting, but I got panic when I read the Exam objectives.I've only 4 yrs of Exp in Java/J2EE and hence will taking this adventure at this time will be good or bad?
What's ur advice???

I too do not want to take EJB 2.0 test,as many companies is using EJB 2.1 in their projects. Is there a possiblity that there will be 1.4 version containing EJB 2.1??

And if I want to wait for a long time,Taking the adventure should be the option!!!.Will I get help for that...

Thanks

hello,

I cannot tell you if you are ready for SCEA part 2. I did not finish my assignment yet, and so I don't even know for sure if I am (passed part 1 recently). You can learn for SCEA part 1 as well as you can for any other exam. You have proven the required learning skills with your previous achievements.

Although I don't have any insider information I am pretty sure that there will be no SCBCD 2.1 - they'd rather make a certification for EJB 3.0. SCBCD 1.3 will not be the best long-term investment. Everything in it will still be used a lot this year and next year, though.
