With J2EE 1.5 making the learning curve for EJB flatter, has SCBCD lost its sheen?

Does the SCBCD certification really help one in ensuring better technical-career graph?

Hi guys ... Im too keen on knowing this ... Since I was preparing for the tests one of my friends who is a member of Java yahoo group called 'pinoyjug' told me he had seen about this and it is a reputable group.

So I wanted to make sure whether this is a rumor or for real.

There will still be a lot of existing systems that depend on EJB 2.0.

I guess its a rumour.
Or even if SUN wants to do the replacement in September then probably it would be September '07

Never heard of any replacement. Can't imagine there'd be one.

Anyway, I think it's still valuable to go for it.

I don't think so!! SCWCD + SCBCD and SCDJWS - all are going to be around.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I've never heard any such plan from Sun, and it doesn't really make any sense. So, I wouldn't bet my life, but if anyone wants to bet cash, let me know

Why should Sun create a Sun Certified Developer for the Java Web Server at this point?
JWS is deprecated.

dag Jeroen,

SCDJWS means Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (not server).
(it better not be deprecated, I'm studying for it...)

ah, which of course is a far more limited scope than EJB (even if there is some common ground, as EJBs can now be exposed as web services).

I am really confused by all of this,

Anyhow I would just like to ask for some clarifications.

Whatever happens,

The exams SCWCD, SCBCD will be replaced by SCDJWS this September. - THIS WON'T HAPPEN, the SCWCD and SCBCD won't be deprecated and REPLACED by SCDJWS - this makes absolutely no sense since they test different things, will it???

Secondly I keep hearing that the SCWCD and SCDJWS won't be upgraded for JEE5, Charles Lyon is my source of information for this. But this thread seems to indicate that they might be updated by September 2007, I think that is what this thread is about.

Can anyone shed any more light on this subject matter.

The changes to the WS and Servlet/JSP APIs for JEE5 are relatively small, and don't warrant a new exam.
The changes in the EJB section are however massive.

bert bates quote.
he says it clearly there is no sense..they wont be replaced. instead scdjws is also there.
thats it.
and don't warrant a new exam.

thanks for clarifying this Jeroen T Wenting

I have always had a serious issue with one opinion which I don't think is correct, Charles Lyon says the same thing.

"The changes to the WS and Servlet/JSP APIs for JEE5 are relatively small, and don't warrant a new exam."

- I can accept this for the Web UI tier, since the only substantive change is the addition of JSF, although that in itself is a massive change.

- But in my opinion the Web Services API has changed drammatically in JEE5, in fact it merits a new package and makes extensive use of annotations, so why does everyone insist that there won't be a new SCDJWS for JEE5???

No, Sun themselves are writing them.
We're only guessing the answers and ticking them off on the finished product in the hope of getting that nice certificate to hang on the wall
