Hi everyone,

I'd like to go for the new SCBCD exam (for EJB 3.0). My question is simple: how do you guys think reading books on EJB 3.0 translated into, for instance, polish, would affect my score on the exam (e.g. O'Reilly "EJB 3.0"), which is in English of course ?

Cheers,
Piotr

I already have the O'Reilly EJB 3.0 book, but it's in Polish and I started thinking about buying it in English. I'm a bit concerned about the language, but sometimes I wonder if there is any point after all.

I think that if you're comfortable enough in English, it should be ok. You could just browse through the specification to get accustomed to English terms. Also, if you make a few mocks in English, I think that you'll get used to it quickly.

Hello Piotr!
I have already bought an English version of this book. Here's what it think...

Why in native language (Polish):
- you already have a copy
- it's easier to read (it's native language)
- you have a chance to get know to Polish terms and it can ease your communication in Polish companies, but look out for non-professional translations

Why in English:
- exam is in English
- you get used to English terms and these are correct terms... In case of some translated books translators are not IT professionals they translate even names. For example I one book author used to translate Java Servlet Pages to "Strony Java Servlet"... so this would rather be SJS not JSP!!!
- ideal translated book is a good a original, if it's not ideal it is always worse...
- you can inprove your English

I would advise to buy original book next time. This time you must decide yourself.
