Hi Guys !
I'm new in EJB and i need some information about what books i have to read for the Exam.
For my others certifications, i read the Kathy Sierra Books.

I looked at the topics and you didn't mention (or mention but not so much !) about Head First EJB. What's the wrong with the book ? The last version is not updated ?

I live in Brazil, so i'm thining on buying a book on Amazon and read some stuff on internet.

Tks
Paulo

Hi Paulo,

If you're thinking of taking the older SCBCD exam (EJB 2.1) then HFEJB and SCBCD Study Guide would be perfect for you. (with HF being more popular)

For SCBCD 1.3

SCBCD Exam Study Kit

Head First EJB

However for the newer version of the exam which deals with EJB 3, the following books are recommended.

For SCBCD 5.0

Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0 (5th Edition)

Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0

Pro EJB 3: Java Persistence API (Pro)

EJB 3 in Action

Personally, I'm using the Oreilly EJB 3.0 book as reference for the BCD 5.0 exam which I'm supposed to take this end of January. So far soo good. I'm thinking also of consulting the Mastering EJB 3.0 free ebook copy in case I want to double check some things which are not clear in the OReilly book.

Hope this helps.

Tks Michael. Your message helped me a lot. I think i'll buy the Oreilly EJB 3.0 book. Im just sad because there isn't a book oriented for the new exam 5.0, like Head First... right ?

If you are new to EJB, then I'd also recommend EJB 3.0 in Action.

We're all hoping that one day Bert and Kathy would write one for us.
But I think that the current OReilly book is good enough to start with.

Hi Paul,

For SCBCD 5.0, which chapters do you recommend read of the O'Relly Enterprise JavaBean?

Thanks...

Hi Elton! I read up to until the chapter before Web Services.

But I think in order to get a good score, you must also consult other resources. (like simulators, MZ's guide)

See my exam experience thread for more details.
