From the following lines,

I'm not able to get "even if the classes
that implement the object references are not serializable"?

Which object references do they mean?

for example, you may have an EJB X that has references another EJB Y. Let's suppose that the application server decides to passivate X: when reactivating EJB X, the application server also restores the reference to Y, even if its interface (remote or local) does not extend
