Why Stateful session beans cannot be registered with the Timer Service?

Currently timers cannot be used with stateful session beans. Only stateless, message-driven and entity beans.

I do not know why stateful cannot but I know the EJB specification group has indicated that this may be rectified.

Hi,
consider that a stateful session bean keeps a conversational state with the client, but for a timer the concept of client does not exist.

Hi Celinio Fernandes,

I think Entity Beans of 2.1 version can create the Timers not the 3.0 Entity Beans.

Thanks&Regards, Krishna.

Can you elaborate a bit on this explanation? I fail to understand this.
