Passed the certification exam this am with 79%.
My study methods were creating web applications and studying the objectives (the notes I provided). I also used the mock exam ($50), although none of the questions were exactly the same, the mock provides an accurate description of the difficulty of the exam.
My exam was 54/56 questions and 90 mins.
There were about 5 type in the answer questions. Like type in the name of the only method that HttpSessionEvent interface provides.
Type in the name of methods, constants, tag attributes.
I think the one thing that helped the most was using the practical knowledge from building web apps, custom tags and the like instead of relying on memorization.
Many of the questions are geared toward tricking those who memorize answers. But if you are familiar with using the syntax, the questions are pretty easy.
Hope that helps.....

Congrats Ken !!! that's so awesome. You mentioned that you were going to modify your notes after taking the exam, do still plan on doing so ? Are you going to add some stuff you think we should know after taking the test ? Plus, you also mentioned you purchased the 50 practice questions and thought it's a good representation, but would you advise others to purchase them as well ?
So should pay for the practice exams or wait for some mock tests ? hint, hint
I think your notes are great and i'm sure you been a great help to many ... congrats again.

I plan on modifying the notes to remove some of the typos and editing errors from cutting and pasting.
Would I purchase the mock exam again? Yes. After taking the mock I realized what Sun thought was important to know. Then I worked on the material (Objectives and mock) that Sun thought was important....

Congrats Ken!
"Usual questions..."
How do you type the name of the method? With or w/o parenthesis? With or w/o parameters?
Do the instructions say or did you have to guess?
Thanks and congrats again!

I will tell you that I had two questions to type in method names. One question said type the method name without parameters. Therefore I assumed method(). The second question asked for the method name but gave an example: for example xyz NOT xyz() .
It was confusing, so I relied on hoping that that Sun would have accepted either submission.
