Hi, I got two questions 1). The "run-as" element is so unclear to me, since we already have "security-role-ref" under "servlet" to do mapping between servlet code and container environment, why do we need to use "run-as"? 2). I passed programmer certification last year, I have the certificate but lost the grade sheet, can I take part in this web component test? Thanks Naichen
Hi, I am resurrecting this thread. The explanation here doesn't seem to make sense to me. What are you declaring when you use run-as. There is already a servlet-mapping. So we are running this servlet as say. MyRunAsServlet. Who uses this name, and why do you assign a role to it. Unless only those within the role can run this servlet as MyRunAsServlet Any suggestions? Mark
I think this will be used when one make his app as distributed app. but still I am not clear abt "run-as" ?? any one some more light regarding this.. TIA CMIW I serached net .. and could not found any info but WebLogic Server 6.0 do not support "run-as" feature [ June 16, 2002: Message edited by: Ravish Kumar ]

I will really be greatful if some one can explain me "run-as" as I could not find any resourec to know abt it ... (I searched a lot on google... I think google needs update.. it should provide facility for case sensitive searh and should consider as/a/in if they are is double quotes...) and AFA security-role-ref is concerned that is used for securing servlet programatically good article on security-role-ref
