Hello Ranchers,
I cleared the SCWCD exam yesterday.I'm not terribly pleased with my score (69%), but then I have only myself to blame for
it.I had to appear for this exam before Nov 30th (I bought a voucher a month back which offered 30% discount on the exam fee
till Nov 30th) and I couldn't study seriously due to work. Thanks to 'nvpg' who pushed me to do it,irrespective of the
outcome,I studied seriously only 3 days before the exam(took off from work even!).
I have 2 months of experience on servelts/JSP and I haven't used Custom tags till date.
So here goes my analysis:
1.The exam isn't tough, its tricky though.
2.While I don't remember the exact layout, around 20 questions can be answered very easily if you have your basics
right.(There aren't actually direct, but you get the idea fairly , as to what is expected out of you)
3.No questions on Filters (Maybe I shouldn't even mention this or there will be discussions on this )
4.The questions on Design patterns are straight forward, no scope for confusion of any kind
5.Few code-based questions were tricky.
6.Found the questions based on distributable/non-distributable web applications tough.
My preparation(if you can call it that!):
1.I did lug that heavy "Professional JSP" to and fro, for 2 weeks, but didn't really study it, I just read that.
2.Ditto for Jason Hunter's 'Servlets'.(It wasn't so heavy though!)
3.Vemurugan Periasamy's Notes(Life-saver for me)
4.Ken Zrobok's notes( made the pieces fall into place)
5.Miftah Khan 's notes(I liked the JSP notes and for Design Patterns)
6.Eduardo Cobain's mock exam (really had me foxed!)
7.Adithya Rayaprolu's last minute reference (aptly named!)
8.SCWCD@Whiz, which I couldn't utilise fully,but I liked the customised tests(you can choose a topic and answer
questions on it to see how well you fare in that topic).
And I'm terribly embarassed to say, I haven't worked out even a single piece of code for the exam.I just relied on
what I had worked(which wasn't much).
I feel that would have helped anyone to actually understand what kind of output to expect and the kind of errors
possible.
Last but not the least ,the people I wish to thank:
nvpg , theinfonet (who did a fair bit of pushing too!),Velmurugan Periasamy, Miftah Khan, Eduardo Cobian, Ken Zrobok ,
Adithya Rayaprolu, the team at Whizlabs for coming out with SCWCD@Whiz and (JavaRanch + all the ranchers here) who have
actually made it possible.

Thank you all
~s

You passed the exam. That's great in itself. Many people don't even attempt. Believe me, you are good.
