hello ! Сan somebody of certified SCWCD or SCEA tell me 1. Is it really useful for career growth or helps to find better job/increase salary ? 2. Where can I find part II of such (Developer or Architect) sertification - i.e. the completed project in order to estimate the difficulty level and the scope of task ? 3. Is it reasonable to apply directly to the SCEA ? I would like to bypass SCJP and SCJD, because I'm experienced j2ee programmer but never was concerning java GUI development and ... hope never will :-) thanx

Hi Mikhail Skorik, Well, I am not sure about job oppourtunities and sal increase, that may be a by product. But the direct result will be, if you really give enough time for preparation instead of just cursory preparation, your knowledge will increase a great extent, well, practicing is the real experience, but you never get the chance to learn the whole technology. But while preparinng for the exam you will really get to know the whole lot of technology. And this ranch is place where there are entusiastic souls always querying some or other stuff which will keep your eyes open for finest details. I will tell you, one direct result of taking exams and participating in this forum i got, I can now read any tech book, at almost triple(not double) speed with almot 10 times more grasping power, b'cos of increased attendtion to detail. What more do you need, then career and sal are going to be by products of your knowledge. I strongly urge you to embark on this beautiful journey and meet lots of enthusiastic, creative and inquisitive brains arround the world here. Good luck!

Here is what I think: Does it add value? Yes, Suddenly after getting certified you would start feeling that you know more than you did before. You start feeling confident. Also people trust your knwoledge. Is it helpful get a job or more money? Yes and NO. If I have two candidates with very identical profile but one certified and the other not, who would I give job? Because the certification forms a common ground to measure Java competency, it is helpful in career. There are places where certification is helpful to get promoted. SCEA? I think yes. If you are experienced, programmer, web component and/or developer certifications might not bring value to you because you already proved your competency by your work. At my work, many people are going to go for SCEA directly because they have more than couple of J2EE projects plus couple of JavaOne presentations under their belt.
