Hi Everybody, How are you all? I don't know if you but, I still remember some of you here. Was very active member in SCJP section when I appeared for SCJP Exam. After that was abit out of touch. But, now I am back and want to take SCWCD. Need all of u here. I don't know from where to start and how to proceed. I will check similar questions from other friends here but thought if anybody could help me and guide me toward SCWCD. Also what r Job Prospects after this certification. I am already SCJP with 89% but could not get much out of it in terms of Job or Career.

If I can say one last thing, don't think that being SCWCD certified will change your life, please. Its just another exam in your life that you take to "notorize" your knowledge on JSP/Servlets among others. You should say you have gained knowledge and that today you know more abt these topics than when you started. It is really depressing when people don't give importance to what you work hard and study. Please don't take it personally, I am saying it in general. If you don't respect the knowledge of your (SCJP) exam, then don't expect someone else to respect it. For what its worth........ - satya
Satya, What you told is perfect! What people usually ignore is celebrating success! Well, they travel the road and finally reach the goal. THen what happens is that, they find that the road is familiar and are not excited about reaching the goal which actually dampens the initial spirit. If you don't respect the knowledge of your (SCJP) exam, then don't expect someone else to respect it. How correct is this statement, Guys celebrate success and let the world know that you have travelled the gruelling path and you are more worth! The day you stop recognizing your success, every one else will stop ecognizing your success. LET KNOWLEDGE PREVAIL!

I agree with ur views. I also celebrated success and was very happy and more confident than ever. But, what do u with the knowledge when u are unable to apply it anywhere. And unless u apply it or share it with somebody then u tend to get disappointed after some time.

Satya, I agrgee with you. When I passed the SCJP I wanted to just pass. But then I took the SCJD and realized what a great learning experience all of these Certifications are. And I also know that a certification will not get you a job, it can help in your resume, but won't even guarantee a job interview. This coming from someone who interviews, unfortunately interviews a lot. So now I am waiting to feel that I have really learned JSP and Servlets before taking the test, even though I know I could easily pass now. But I still feel I haven't learned it so that it will stick with me passed the exam. Mark
Neeraj, Welcome back!! Let me answer your questions. [1] Start with http://www.javaranch.com/scwcdlinks.jsp [2] Have you programmed JSP and Servlets? Yes --> Download JSP 1.2 and Servlet 2.3 specifications and documentation, look at the notes on the links page (above), take a mock test and see where you are. If needed obtain a good book (more servlets and JSP) NO --> Download Tomcat 4.0 (or later), get a book on servlets and JSPs and start writing code. AFTER you understand JSP and Servlet technologies and their role in J2EE architecture, download and read specifications (if you do it early specs might not make sense) As you might know jobmarket is down but ingeneral, this certification brings value because [1] J2EE architecture is popular and being used widely [2] Not many people are web component developers [3] If you are competing with other(s) to get a job, this certification might add value if other qualifications are same. As you already said, be sure to check questions similiar to yours and their answers on other posts. Good luck Chintan
