no. You just need to have servlet.jar in your classpath. You find servlet.jar in <tomcat_install>\common\lib
And: A really good idea is to bookmark or create a desktop link to: <tomcat_install>\webapps\tomcat-docs\servletapi\index.html
(There you find the servlet-jsp api)
You can subclassify J2EE in web-components (Servlet, JSP) and middleware components (EJB, JTA,
JDBC, Java-Mail, etc.)
For the examen you just need the web-components. To really understand J2EE you need an understanding of the middleware-components too. But a lot of people just start with servlet/jsp, because to grasp the whole picture at once is a lot of stuff.
