passed....just now!

Just finished my exam, passed with 88%.
Thanks to all of you here.
Took the initial survey (not sure how it effects the exam, if at all). I was psyched to see foreign language stuff immediately after the survey....which was nothing but the agreement.
I mean can't they tell you in plain simple english. Worst thing is that the clock started ticking and the agreement had numbers. DUH!! they are not part of the exam and the numbers are not question numbers. Will the entire exam have this foreign language...nooo! I hate surprises.
Okay after three screens the exam started......
Pretty decent for most part. There were some tricky questions. Most questions came in groups (on the same topic). Sorry, I din't count the number of qstns from each topic.
Most of my preparation was here on the javaranch. The Specs and "More Servlets and JSPs" come very close... . Listeners are important. I also used the SCWCD@Whiz. It helped, but not too impressed though, there is quite a lot of room for improvement to this tool. I never bought it you know, it was one of those book giveaways.
Filters - no qstns on that but was one of the options to something.
Patterns - go an extra mile and learn about other patterns also (Don't limit yourself to the four patterns in the objectives). Not just the choices, one of the answers was not the four that's mentioned in the Objs.
API - Also, very important. The farther you go the better it is. Draw a line where you are comfortable. I knew this is my weakness, but then I had to draw the line somewhere..
Beans and Tags: Good number of questions here also. Surprisingly I lost quite a bit in Beans, can't think of too many qstns. (I know one bean qstn is wrong, I checked it after I got back).
Sessions: I had a fair number of qstns on this.
Overall it covered almost everything. I am currently walking the objectives to see what wasn't covered.
Anyways, thanks again and Good luck.

Congrats!! I was reading all your posts.
How hard is the exam when compared to other mock exams? How do you rate 'More servlets' as far as the certfication goes. I find it confusing.

How hard is the exam when compared to other mock exams?
It was comparable, even the mistakes.
Midway in the exam, I had a question without the package stmt. I was yelling, almost... ...I made a mental note of this question and am planning to write a feedback to Sun Educ.
How do you rate 'More servlets' as far as the certfication goes.
In general, I rated it at 9/10.
With respect to the exam, I will rate it at 8/10. Because it doesn't cover everything what we need for the exam. Well, if not you guys won't read the Specs which are also equally important...
I find it confusing.
In my review, I did point out that I was confused by the fact that the tag libraries are introduced in JSP Spec 1.1 and later the detailed chapter is according to JSP Spec 1.2. This was the only confusing part to me. Actually, I had a pretty good knowledge of Servlets/JSP before I read the book, so I probably it wasn't as confusing.
Yes, I still need the More Servlets book. Such books are worth keeping.
Next..huh! Maybe XML mostly (or developer).
But, next quarter though, not immediately, although I may go ahead and pay the fees.

Yeah, that caught me by surprise also. I have not seen that on any other Prometric exams I have taken.

Its so funny, thinking abt that. The survey questions were in English. Then you say start and the clock starts ticking and you see foreign chars.
Don't laugh, but I marked these....
three.... Oh! my god, my stomach hurts...

I almost had a heart attack too when I saw all of that foreign writing. They really shouldn't have the time start until you've agreed. That is total B.S.

Congrats to Satya (and a little bit to Ersin also )....very good score!
I used Core servlets and JSP with some other books and feel that now people generally are going for More Servlets and JSP as its newest.
Satya, did you feel lack of a complete study giude on SCWCD when preparing? I felt because, i was awkwardly looking for online tutorials, buying books, discussing with peoples (all those hepled me a lot ofcourse ).
What are you planning next?

Hi Madhav,
Thanks for the info. After seeing and reading all the posts i've decided not to go for SCWCD as it requires lots of memory related stuff. So i am losing confidence in this and am going ahead with SCJD for now.

Sri, don't give up on the SCWCD. Yes it is a lot of memorizing. But if you also try everything out using Tomcat, you will learn a great deal that is more important than what you memorized.

What did I say that gives you this impression? I always suggest what Mark said. Wite code and the rest is like any other exam. You don't expect to give the exam without practice, right?
In a way its no different to SCJP.

Thanks for encouraging. Yes, Mark i'll try to work on Tomcat installation. Hope its easy.
In the mean time abt SCJD, as YOU'VE suggested i emailed SUN about my lost password and got it finally after 4 weeks of wait. Now i've downloaded the assignment and have lots of doubts in scjd section too, hope to see u there. Thanks for your advice in that part too!

Ofcourse, I will.
But in all fairness, you haven't posted much in this forum....
If you really want us to answer questions, you should participate more, right?
BTW How long was your preparation?
About 8 weeks (seriously). But before that, I had Servlet/JSP experience for more than 18 months. So things were not that difficult. Just had to get my pointers realigned to the new Specs.
