reading the JSP/Servlet Specs are not that enjoyable. If you don;t have any experience with JSP or Servlet, it is confusing because there aren't that many examples to guide you.

Also, (IMHO) the wording is a little tricky to understand in places - particularly around the tag lifecycle and a tag's relationship with the container when re-use/pooling of tag handler instances is employed. :roll:

I found the servlet specification to be much more readable than the JSP specification. Did anyone else find this to be true?

Yeah, I also feel that servlet specs are much more understandable and even the authors have tried to make the chapters interesting to read. The wording of JSP specs is tough to understand even for developers with some experience. Thats what I feel.
