default implementations for HTTP methods

As per Jason Hunter's book on Servlets, the default implementation of the doGet and doPost methods in HttpServlet is to return an error saying the requested URL does not support that method. Is it same for the other HTTP methods like doPut, doDelete,etc ?

Yes this is true for all methods of http.
