Is url-pattern mandatory. DTD says only web-resource-name is mandataory.

Only web-resource-name in mandatory.Maybe the exam refers to jSP 1.1

Do they mean mandatory due to the DTD or mandatory due to the logic of the web container ?
Because I can't imagine using defining a web resource collection without using a url pattern ...
