open the "web.xml" file in the TOMCAT_HOME/conf folder and search for the tag
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>invoker</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/servlet/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
and un-comment it. Everything is working fine now.
It's not a bug. It's documented in the Tomcat documentation. There's two invoker servlet mappings...one defines the servlet class, and the other defines the servlet mapping. It's the mapping that is commented by default.
