So, if I just study the SJWCD book to get the Web Components certification, I guess I just know enough to get by with EJB, huh? I mean, how much do you have to know to use them? I keep hearing mention online of them being quite complicated, but they seem pretty straightforward to me (and I assume there's just a WHOLE LOT of other stuff to know about them). In other words, what does the SJWCD exam make me "qualified" for regarding EJB?

I think you may be confusing Javabeans with EJBs. They are two separate and distinct things. The SCWCD exam covers the use of Javabeans within JSP pages but does not touch on EJB at all.
If you are interested in a certification for EJB then keep a look out for the upcoming Sun Certified Business Component Developer Cert (SCBCD).
