Hi,
Can anyone evaluate whether the combination of books.
SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant D.
and
Core Servlets and JavaServer Pages (Second Edition, 2004) by Marty H.
cover all the topics of the new SCWCD exam? Is there something missed
out by these books?
Thanks, greetings,
Gian Franco

I used SCWCD Exam Study Kit and JavaServer Page 3rd edition, by Hans as my main references during SCWCD 1.4 beta.
Hans' book covers all newly added JSP objectives, while the Servlet objectives did not change much. Filers also being covered in Hanumant's book.

Ok, just my 2 cents worth,
Most of the books out there are based on jdk1.3, not jdk1.4, and so this is also true with the Manning book, by Deshmukh and Malavia. Having said that, I passed the exam, version 1.3, got 96%, using this excellent book. Be warned though, it has many typographical (and coding) errors in it. The errata is published at their website, so once you buy the book, go through with a pencil and make all the corrections.
Now, Marty's book is NOT aimed at passing the SCWCD exam, but to teach you servlets and basic JSP. Which means the first book is aimed at nothing but getting you through the exam, while Marty's book is aimed at helping you to become a decent servlet/JSP guy.
To pass the exam, I would buy the Deshmukh book, and a commercial exam simulator.
Try:
http://www.enthuware.com/jwebplus/index.html about $35
and also:
http://www.whizlabs.com/products/scwcd/scwcd.html about $74
and there are countless free (dubious in quality) mock exams on the Internet. One right here somewhere at JavaRanch
You will pass the SCWCD exam if you take the Deshmukh book seriously, but it won't teach you everything you need to know to get >90% on the exam. You need to read the servlet and JSP specs, (on the cd with the Deshmukh book), and you need to obtain a commercial exam simulator. The cd does contain 3 mock exams, if your a little strapped for cash.

Thanks for the replies,
Fortunately I bought Whizlabs simulator
so I'm ok with that. There are so many
options one should invest his/her money
carefully.
Cheers,
