This week's book giveaway is in the Agile and other Processes forum. We're giving away four copies of The Mikado Method and have Ola Ellnestam and Daniel Brolund on-line! See this thread for details.
Javaranch is a great and comprehensive site but sometimes it can be a little frustrating to navigate your way about it so how about a sitemap page which has links to all of the relevant pages. For example to find the scwcd links page you have to go to the scwcd forum (as far as i have seen), to find out about the offers as well as a few other pages that are hidden around (such as the cattledrive javaranchcommon page) that i have probably not even seen yet It wouldn't take long to set up and could just be placed on the sidemenu and would open up the site a lot more so that people can find all the useful little goodies that it has hidden away. You could even call it something like the treasure map (bit piraty perhaps) or ranchmap or something. Just a thought anyway, otherwise keep up the great work Thanks

Would love to but i can't imagine you would let little old me get access to the site. Although i would happily collate all the links into a table if i could find them all, just say the word... it would give me the opportunity to give something back, hey even thats not a bad idea. There must be loads of ideas offered in this forum with people not having enough time to do them, why not offer them out to people to have a go at (suitably supervised obviously), make it even more of a community site and all that (e.g. develop a few more applets etc etc) i am sure people would love to do it and then even whack it on their cv as a shining example of their work, i would for sure..

"Word" There you go. Seriously. If you create an HTML or JSP page with the links that you think appropriate, and format it into something that fits the look and feel of this site, we will review it and implement it "somewhere". Perhaps you can steal the format from this page: http://www.javaranch.com/xml/XMLexamList.jsp Just e-mail me your draft and I will have the Moderators poke pot-holes in it and give you the feedback. Good Luck

OK deal (not quite sure why i am saying deal as i have to prepare it but there you go ) I would be happy to do it, and even happier now that i know i can do it in JSP which luckily i haven't any experience in using but want to learn anyway as i am taking SCWCD in Sept and already have plenty of experience in Servlets so it will be a good little project. Just don't expect it too soon as i have to learn the stuff from scratch and still trying to do cattledrive and stuff at work but i will try and get out a mock page in say the next couple of weeks (ish) (i suppose as it didn't exist before there isn't any rush) i may need to come back at some point to get any spare gifs you use that i can't see and also see if you have any other pages that need mapping that i can't find. Talk about digging a hole and falling in it

Sam, I think a site map is a good idea, but I don't understand the relationship between a cattle ranch and a pirate map. I doubt that cowboys and pirates had anything to do with one another. On the other hand, I can imagine a need for a trail map or even a ranch map for a really big ranch.

Did you mean the same what I have eventually understood?

I can make temporary transparent stickers with links' signatures to temporarily render the Map and distribute it amongst members, well, impatient members.

I don't know. What did you eventually understand? Sam started to work on this. I don't know how far that he has gotten.
