Greetings to Group,

After entering the syntax http://localhost:8080/Beer-v1/form.html in the subject line and pressing enter I am getting a message to the effect that the connection is refused because the form.html document is not found.

If I double-click on the form.html document it dispays a properly formatted page in a browser but not through the local host. (I do verify that Tomcat is running.)

I created the directory structure from pages 72-73 in the Head First Servlets & JSP book and located the form.html file in the two places: MyProjects/beerV1/web and tomcat/webapps/Beer-v1/WEB-INFO. The MyProjects folder is not under the Tomcat folder but is in the Apache Software Foundation folder which also contains the Tomcat folder.

Does any have any advice as to how to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks,

Jerry Bustamente

WEB-INFO should be renamed to WEB-INF. Copy a dummy web.xml file in the folder too. Get it from a sample application and delete everything between <web-app>....</web-app>.

Double-clicking shows a valid html page because you are opening a local page. It is no different from opening a word(*.doc) or excel(*.xls) file.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
