This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
I just cleared the exam with 85%!! The exam was probably a little more difficult than what I had expected. But all is well that ends well. I was especially worried, since I had studied from 'Deshmukh' (old 080 version) and only last week when I went on to get the voucher, did I realize that there is no 080 available! So I borrowed Headfirst from one of my friends, and studied for the *additional* portion from Headfirst. I also gave the HF mock exam yesterday & got around 65% so the "+20" equation still holds good!
Some points I would like to mention: - Sufficient time ( I finished the test in one & half hr.) - Its probably not as easy as it used to be earlier [I had heard that 080 used to very simple]. Like for example, they could confuse you with attributes and parameters, attributes in different scopes, design patterns, Custom Tags, EL expressions etc. (It's not very dangerous, but you have to think a little before answering) - Drag and Drops were fairly simple! The posts about how-to-use them helped! U need to paste only when u see the rectangle. - There were no 'text-box' type questions where u need to type in something. - EL is embedded in quite a few Qs. So get your EL concepts cleared. - Deployment Descriptor tags (learn the newly added ejb, welcome-file, dynamic-attributes tags), Security Management, JSP/Servlet Model can be your scoring topics.
Hope this helps, and All the best for your exams! Asmita
Do we need to study web.xml 2.4 DD or 2.3 is enough. I'm taking the exam tomorrow and searching for web.xml2.4.

I am not sure about the version. But as I mentioned earlier, my problem was that I had initially studied for the 080 version and hence got a few surprises during the exam. But all the new stuff (I checked later) is covered in HeadFirst. So if u have studied from Headfirst, should be fine. All the best for your exam!
