i am using the compression filter example from HFS book, it is fine for normal JSP pages, but when i use <jsp:include> it is showing some binary data in the browser, i am using WebLogic Server 8.1 SP2 (servlet version 2.3)

i tried to use <dispatcher> in <filter> but i am getting error :

<Apr 4, 2005 6:47:11 PM GMT+05:30> <Warning> <HTTP> <BEA-101248> <[Application: 'D:\domains\rmmdo
main\applications', Module: 'rmmweb']: Deployment descriptor "web.xml" is malformed. Check agains
t the DTD: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element type "dispatcher" must be declared. (line 22, c
olumn 14).>

Can you post your web.xml?

The dispatcher element in the <filter> is introduced only as a part of Servlet 2.4 spec. So, i would assume that is the problem. You may be interested to try using some container which offers servlet 2.4 features...
