Once you have the book, the best way to learn is to start coding servlets and JSPs. Install simple free web application server, like Tomcat (http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/) and deploy your servlets and JSPs there to test them. Start from easy subjects and then go up to a more advanced subjects, such as Expression Language, Filter, JSLT, design patterns, etc.
