Hi,
Today i passed SCWCD with 91%.Thanks to Kathy sierra & co,java ranch group members who gave me alot of confidence.Totally i have taken 1 month ,read head first and velmurugan notes .After that i took online tests.i got 44/69 in head first's mock exam.
Once again i thank u very much to all javaranch group members and ALL THE BEST to who r going to take SCWCD.
Important:Head first doesn't cover everything. If u have good knowledge in servlets and JSP ,refer sun spec quickly.I have spent 2 hrs on sun spec.concentrated mainly on filters in servlets,EL,Taglibrary,JSTL in JSP.

For servlets--HeadFirst+Velmurugan notes+Filter(sun spec)
For JSP--HeadFirst+Velmurugan notes+SCWCD_meda groups notes+JSTL,EL,Taglibrary(sunspec)

Hi,
Thanks alot!
Rama,Velmurugan(scored 94%) has taken notes for SCWCD 1.4.His notes helped me alot for SCJP 1.4 & SCWCD 1.4.Simply it's the best notes compare to other notes.
U can find it in scwcd_meda(yahoo groups)---Just go to the files section .
All the best

Hi,
Shah, I think that group contains enough file collection(morethan enough) for SCWCD prepartion. There is n't necessary for other groups.I also searched for someother groups. But i can't find good collection. That group is morethan enough.wish u all the best.If u have utilise that collection ,
u can easily cross 80%(definitely).

Mani...That's depend upon how much time u spend for the preparation .U said that u r new in servlets and jsp.I think u have to take 80-90 hrs totally.First just read basic concepts in servlets . after that go the Jsp.it's easy compare to servlets...
finally u will take HFSJ and notes. If u read very well,u will take 20-25 hrs(max) only for HFSJ.Atlast u can take onlinetests.

My Prepartion:I knew basic concepts in servlets and jsp.But i was also new some concepts in filter(servlet),EL,Taglibrary,Customtags(jsp).I concen.much on these area only.I read that HFSJ 3-4 times.(2 weeks).Last week concentrate only on online tests ,velmurugan notes, sun spec(2 hrs only)...
That's all ....
All the Best

Congrats Pratap!!! Good Score

I am also planning to give SCWCD on 25th November. Your remarks that HFSJ is not enough is giving me a bit of worry. I had read on this forum that HFSJ covers everything. Even Bert Bates had said that HFSJ covers everything for SCWCD exam.

Can you please advise me Pratap
1. I have read HFSJ
2. I have scanned through Sun Specifications
3. I have done few mocks including HFSJ mock, I got 91% score in that. I have done Anand Chawla mock, mock from www.j2eecertificate.com.
4. I do not have any work experience in JSP/Servlets. I am student of Grade VII. I have lot of interest in Java. I am preparing for this exam on my own by reading through HFSJ book and going through comments on javaranch and practising on my laptop.

Is above enough to get me a good score.

Thanks and regards,

Dishaan Ahuja

Dishaan ,
Great job!
For Passing the SCWCD exam, HFSJ is morethan enough. If u get expertise on these techn...U have to go through the sun spec.Frm ur score,i think that u can easily cross 90%.U can get better score than me.Don't worry abt it.
Just concentrate on things which u r not confident(read in sun spec).that's enough.
wish u all the best!

Hello Jay,
This post is a little bit old and I am not sure if Velmurugan notes are not for 1.4 SCWCD 1.4 exam. I suppose that they have been removed since this exam is already retired.
Maybe Rancher Notes will help you(scroll down to find them).

btw for which exam are you preparing for - 5 or 6 ?
Regards

Hey Jay,
Here you can find some free mock exams. I do plan to buy Enthuware's mock exams but I still haven't decided on which exam I will go: 5 or 6.

I am creating mind maps based on HF Servlets & JSP book but they are still in rough format, so I can share them just after they got ready(~ 1 week)
Regards
